The foundation is characterized for having profound Christian
principles of love, union and self-improvement. Alvaro Noboa
created community libraries, handcraft workshops, training
centers and literacy campaigns as well as dental clinics,
and legal assistance workshops, thus promoting collective
growth.

With the purpose of encouraging personal growth among community
members, seamstress workshop schools, nursery schools, and
computer schools were added to the program, all of which
is offered, of course, free of charge.

Later, Alvaro Noboa put together a work group and created
mobile clinics that service those most impoverished in Ecuadorian
society.

From its inception the Foundation led by Alvaro Noboa has
been working with the needy sectors of the Country during
its most dramatic and anguishing moments.

Before the disastrous hardship caused by the "El Niño"
phenomenon in 1983, 1998 and 1999, free medical assistance
was provided the flood victims through the Alvaro Noboa
medical brigades. In addition, medicine, food and provisions
in general were given to those sectors most affected on
the Ecuadorian coast.

During the earthquake that hit the city of Bahia in the
Province of Manabí, the New Humanity Crusade Foundation
immediately made itself present. Housing reconstruction
began immediately and medicine, mattresses and foodstuffs
were supplied free of charge.

During the emergency caused by the Guagua Pichincha and
Tungurahua volcanic eruptions, the Alvaro Noboa medical
brigades provided free medical assistance to the victims.
They also expanded their work to reach the provinces of
Pichincha, Tungurahua, Chimborazo and Imbabura. During the
terrible flooding that lashed the city of Chone in the month
of April 2000, the medical brigades shifted their professional
and humanitarian team to this city assisting over 600 people
a day throughout the emergency.
Currently, the medical brigades of the "New Humanity
Crusade" Foundation are carrying out a plan of nationwide
scope for permanent medical service and assistance to marginal
aereas of various rural populations and cities, staying
always alert for emergency cases.
These facts identify the vision of a man that has worked
over 25 years for the needy inhabitants of the Country through
his Foundation. As Ecuador's most important businessman
who directly employs thousands of Ecuadorians and indirectly
over one million, he undoubtedly stands out as the largest
employer in a country riddled with unemployment.
In the companies controlled by Alvaro Noboa there is a
deep social awareness. The Bonita Banana plantations and
cattle haciendas include schools created by the company.
Social Security as well as medical assistance is provided
for the employees. Child labor is strictly prohibited in
the haciendas controlled by Alvaro Noboa, a man who does
business in five continents around the globe and who is
undoubtedly a man of action, spiritual strength and great
ambition.
