DEAR
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
The
biggest homage bestowed on Luis Noboa, the largest monuments
are really the industrial, commercial, agricultural and financial
entities he established over fifty years ago and which have
outlasted him.
The
biggest tribute that i as his son can pay him is to continue
this work, because the work and dedication to it is a reflection
of the great love i professed my father during his lifetime,
and now that he is deceased.
Luis
Noboa was by far, the most outstanding man of enterprise in
Ecuador’s history. his father Luis Adolfo Noboa was a
dentist and his mother Zoila Naranjo was from Ambato. my grandmother
Zoila was left a widow when my father was barely four years
old which caused my father to work and study at the same time
at the age of thirteen in order to help out his family.
over
the years he became a role – model for businessmen in
our country, he established companies such as Exportadora Bananera
Noboa, Industrial Molinera, Ultramares, El Café, Industria
Cartonera Ecuatoriana, Transportes Maritimos Ecuatorianos, Seguros
Condor, LAN Ecuador, Corasa, Molinos Poultier, and many other
in Ecuador and the world over; these companies are a reflection
of his genial imagination; they afford employment and generate
production for consumption in Ecuador and the world over.
Luis
Noboa believed that after god, work was most important. his
philosophy can be synthesized as a philosophy of work he taught
me that the important thing was to work, work, and work. he
taught me to use my personal and intellectual resources, to
use my imagination and be disciplined in my life.
He
also gave me and all ecuadorians, lessons in honesty, discipline,
thirft and to spend only when necessary and never, never throw
money away. i have followed these lessons. i learned a lot from
him, next to him, during my childhood, as an adult when we talked.
Unfortunately
i worked very little time with him. i enjoyed it and i also
learned a good deal next to him.
his, was a very fruitful life, he had 6 children and many grand
children and created the greatest number of job positions possible
during his time.
Today
i have decided to establish this museum as a tribute to him
which bears his name Luis A. Noboa so that young people can
learn about him, reading about his life, seeing how he worked.
they can look at both ecuadorian and universal art work. i have
established this museum largely with the artwork he himself
chose during his lifetime. important works from friends of his
like Rendón and other ecuadorian painters. i think today
this museum is composed of works belonging to the most important
contemporary painters from Ecuador, therefore constituting another
Luis A. Noboa achievement joining his extensive legacy in production,
his great legacy of wisdom which i hope contributes to youth
and Ecuador.
