Businessman, and former presidential candidate, Alvaro Noboa makes an analysis on the current situation of the country and the need to open new markets while performing a tour through European countries.
The former presidential candidate of the Prian political party, Alvaro Noboa is traveling through the world in search of new markets on which he can invest. His objective is to set national products like: banana, coffee, shrimp, vegetables, flowers, and craftworks, on international markets.
Businessman Alvaro Noboa Ponton (PRIAN) said that The Ecuador is poorly seen in the world due to the political system employed. The former presidential candidate made those declarations from England.
Former presidential candidate for Prian party, Alvaro Noboa, said he was opening new markets to invest, because in the country there is no encouragement of business development by the Government.
Former presidential candidate for PRIAN (Institutional Renewal Party of National Action), Alvaro Noboa, said that he travels the world seeking new markets for Ecuadorian products.
There is a serious problem in the banana sector. Formal enterprises as Noboa, Dole and Del Monte paid the official price of USD 5.40 per box, but the informal group that today represent 50% of exports pay between $2 and $3 per box. With these values the informal reduce the international market because they sell to supermarkets $3 less than the rest. That is why we have to bear the losses, and the option was to reduce export volumes to decrease the losses.
Ecuadorians, I have resolved to travel throughout the world in order to open markets for Ecuador, thereby ensuring our products sell in greater numbers - whether it be bananas, coffee, shrimp, plantains, among others - in order to generate employment in Ecuador, in view of the crisis we are going through and which we should overcome through productive work. Which would in turn, augment our presence and increase the sales or our products of incomparable quality and national pride.
From the beginning of my public service career in order to attain the presidency of the Republic of Ecuador in 1998, which according to many was torn from my hands through electoral fraud, I, myself, have been attacked, as well as my businesses and my family in the most vile and dreadful manner.
Alvaro Noboa as a candidate for President of the Republic, for the smear campaign unleashed against him -in the last weeks to finish the second round in October 2006- denounce that his opponent, Rafael Correa, was supported by extremist groups with which he sympathize. "These are strategies that come from the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) he said literally.
In a press conference, businessman and former List 7 Presidential candidate Alvaro Noboa said that he was grateful to all those Ecuadorians who believed in his campaign proposal and in the change that he has in mind for Ecuador. Furthermore, he sustained that, despite not reaching the presidency, he will continue working for Ecuador by, among other things, generating employment and national production.
Alvaro Noboa: We see that all Ecuadorians are observing closely, above all in creating the records, fraud occurs when the records are created, the votes are in, but they change the record.
Alvaro Noboa finalized his campaign in two provinces. In the morning he was in Portoviejo (Manabi) where he took part in a parade and then later he attended a rally in Manabi Avenue and Quito. Later, he returned to the principal port city where, together with his wife and running mate, Anabella Azín, he toured various streets of the city in motor cavalcade.
His supporters gathered in Gómez Rendón and Machala streets where artistic entertainment was offered in which various musical groups participated. Rain falling in the city delayed the campaign event.
In his fourth attempt at the presidency, Alvaro Noboa danced reggaeton on stage with his wife and Prian Vice-Presidential candidate, Anabella Azín.
With the sign demonstrating the number of party members (more than 2.5 million), Alvaro Noboa appeared again on the last day of campaign.
May God be with you, people of Quito, capital of more than 700 years, capital of the Shyris, capital of the Inca Empire, capital of the Republic of Ecuador. What a spectacular history you have had. At one time you were the center of America; you were, when Atahualpa reigned here, the place where all the young and all the political, economic and social organization of America came from that was known at that time, that went from Central America to Argentina.
I have toured all of the country. I am convinced that I am going to make it to the second round. Esmeraldas, Manabí, Los Ríos, Guayas and everyone says that I am there, as they say in Ecuador, breathing down Correa's neck. I want the 14 million Ecuadorians to take courses in night school and if they only have a primary [education] that they become technicians. We need to bring businesses to all of Ecuador and in order for those businesses to come here to Ecuador, business taxes have to be reduced from 25% to 10%; there has to be juridical security; the country has to remain dollarized, and in that way we can make a new country. And we have to unite the left and the right, all for a new country, with production by the right and social justice by the left.
Dollarization: He offers to maintain the system because it is a requirement of the business sector and of the citizens. In order to strengthen the dollarization, he proposes a policy of financial openness in order to attract foreign capital. This policy is complemented with fiscal incentives for businesses. In that way, he will increase investment in capital wealth.
May God be with you, Ecuadorians, the people of Quito. Despite Quito today having the greatest number of middle-class people in all of Ecuador, despite Quito having one of the best mayors who has allowed this city to shine throughout the world, despite Quito having one of the best educational and cultural levels in the entire country, the people of Quito, and the people of Ecuador, are still considered poor in the eyes of those from developed countries.
I have a great macroeconomic plan aimed at getting all of the country, once and for all, out of this state of poverty of more than 50 years and that plan includes education and welcoming businessmen here to the country so that there will jobs for everyone. I have never been President, so therefore this is my chance to show the country that, yes, you can; that you shouldn't lose hope, Ecuadorians, and if you lose hope, we will all end up once again in the hands of all of those who have failed already as leaders.

Businessman Alvaro Noboa Pontón, List 7 candidate for President of the Republic, yesterday visited the south of Guayaquil as part of his tours of the popular neighborhoods of the urban port city. He was accompanied by Luis Noboa, Alfredo Bautista, and other Guayas candidates for the Assembly.
I won the elections in `98 and they vilely robbed it from me. There have only been demagogical, populist, lying governments. I would like to draw the Ecuadorian´s attention, I would like you to know that, yes, you can. That, yes, I can help you to become a technician or a professional; that, yes, you can have a cement house; that, yes, you can have a car. It depends on you, Ecuadorian, that you wake up this April 26th and that you make hope the fashion, that you make optimism the fashion, that you make "yes" the fashion, that you make wealth the fashion, and that once and for all you change, Ecuadorian, and that you never give up. Glory to God! Viva Ecuador!
Correa, we can see from your administration, of the 25 billion dollars that you received from petrol, the only thing that we can see, in every poor house in Ecuador, that there are millions of houses with a green flag, but the house carries on without water, the house carries on without sewer systems, and the street in which the house is, continues to be unpaved. What are you laughing at, Correa?
Ecuadorians, we have come here to an interview with the delegates of the European Community in order to present our complaint with regards to the electoral process. The first is the disproportion that exists between the amount of publicity and the number of times that Rafael Correa appears on television. Second point: he doesn't accept debates. Third, space for publicity is so small that it has allowed only those already known candidates to stand out. Fourth, in an abuse of power, he has just created a draft assessment to threaten us with, and in this way, me, as presidential candidate, in the moment in which Bananera Noboa is going bankrupt so as to try to bankrupt me.
Businessman Alvaro Noboa Pontón and Dr. Anabella Azín, List 7 Candidates for President and Vice-President of the Republic, continue with the campaign tour towards Elections 2009. Today, in the afternoon, in the middle of the holiday, they decided to continue touring the streets of the port city.

This last weekend, businessman Alvaro Noboa, List 7 Candidate for President of the Republic, visited Daule and Guayaquil.
Bernard Fougers: This is not a paid political space. Bernard's concept of the interview is to attempt to consequently penetrate the personality of the interviewee in a limited time. My questions are not necessarily political, but we can't avoid touching upon that. My first question is regarding a personal concern. I presume that in order to accumulate a fortune like yours, one has to have a special knack, a special capacity, a special intelligence.
Alvaro Noboa's proposals for Manabí have not changed much. Wednesday afternoon, he was in the province and repeated his projects for development. When he stepped down onto the Portoviejan ground, the candidate greeted his supporters and departed in a car headed towards the hill of the city. He arrived in the commercial area of the town, got out of the car and went shop by shop greeting citizens. On site, he repeated that he would raise the Human Development voucher to $77 and that he would create "jobs, jobs and more jobs". Regarding Manabí, where he said that he was sure to win like in past elections, he announced agricultural and fishing development plans for being one of the most productive provinces in the country. He indicated that he has in his sights the transformation of the region into a pole of development.
Businessman Alvaro Noboa, leader of the Prian, is the one to have the last word regarding the direction his candidacy will take, however, not everything springs from the mind of the presidential hopeful, and before deciding what to do in order to promote his image, Noboa meets with specialists from different areas, such as persons close to him, to hear their points of view.

In the afternoon and evening (yesterday), businessman Alvaro Noboa, List 7 candidate for President of the Republic, decided to tour the center of Guayaquil. Accompanied by his party colleagues, sympathizers and candidates for the Assembly, councilors and prefects for Guayas, he departed from 9 de Octubre Avenue and its surrounding areas.
I want to tell Ecuadorians once more that with Alvaro and the 7, the voucher is $77. The motive behind raising the voucher is because in the last two years the average cost of living for a family has reached $550, and with the $30 that the people are receiving at the moment, the voucher doesn't cover anything. I am going to come to Manabí as many times as it takes.
There are two fundamental areas for the development of this province: this province should become a Duty Free zone where national and international investment can be fomented. The Ecuadorian crisis has a first and last name called Rafael Correa. It's not called a global crisis. The Ecuadorian crisis has nothing to do with the failure of mortgages in the United States or Europe. It is a product of the waste of money that came from petroleum last year and was not invested in the country as it should have been. The Ecuadorian crisis is due to having closed the doors to international investors and to Ecuadorian investors that would come here to Ecuador.
I would like to say to all Ecuadorians that I am going to become the defender of the police and the Armed Forces who have suffered because the State has not delivered their retirement funds at the required value, given that the State has stopped the usual payments towards the retirement funds of military and police personnel. I want things to return to how they were before and that all the rights that the police and the military, and all of the institutions which the State has stopped helping towards their retirement funds, are going to have the support of the State.

Alvaro Noboa: He has fallen from 73% to 50% in less than a month, and according to the Publianalisis survey, he has fallen to 34%. In politics, once you begin a slide, it is very difficult to stop it. Once a fall has begun, I don't know anyone in the history of democratic elections in the world who has been able to recuperate themselves.

Once again, Industrial Molinera C.A. is the victim of political persecution by the IRS. On March 4, 2009, we received a statement of $2,232,497.17 as a tax assessment for the 2005 tax year. How is it possible for the IRS to impose an assessment of that amount when the amount paid as income taxes in other Molinera companies does not exceed $125,000?

Alvaro Noboa's campaign in Quito began with delays. The plane which should have taken the Presidential candidate of the Republic to the capital experienced a fault before leaving the city of Guayaquil.
"My fellow Quiteños, I have studied Quito's problems profoundly and there are two problems that stand out among the rest: transport and security. There is a high rate of delinquency that has been unleashed here in Quito".
These are the figures that show a spectacular decline of more than 23 points and almost 40 points, according to our survey. This fall is due to Manabí, after 50 years of bad Presidential governments, continuing to have a fifth-rate transit system, and lacking potable water in poor neighborhoods. For those who receive vouchers, in the act, I will raise them to $77 dollars. Let's save all of Ecuador, lady and gentleman Manabites, with investment and education.
"I give you the good news: both the polls conducted by the government, and those of Publianálisis, which are summed up here, have put me in second place. In 2006, (in the polls) I began in sixth place and now, one day after beginning the campaign, the polls already put me in second place".

His aim is for all Ecuadorians to become professionals and to improve their quality of life, to raise themselves up to the middle classes.
You have welcomed me in such a way that I feel immensely happy. My father was from the Tungurahua province, from the city of Ambato. My grandmother, Zoila Naranjo, the same.
I would like to inform all the people that we are going through a very, very serious national and international economic crisis. This is a red alert, which I am giving the nation, so that the current Head of State takes immediate corrective measures which should be taken or we will fall into an economic pit that will be very difficult to emerge from for several years, that is, if we don't make corrections in time.
Alvaro Noboa: Unfortunately, I see the next months, given the economic errors committed by this government, as very bad. Look, the international economics is very similar to domestic economy.
In this press conference, only the candidates for Assembly members, the Presidency, prefects, councilors, mayors, prefects are present. There is no electorate here, and yet this looks like a grass-roots assembly.
Alvaro Noboa: Ready to talk, I'm ready to debate for change in Ecuador. I have had to make two important changes in my life. The first change is that I am going to choose the avenue of dialogue, of debate, to show to the people of Ecuador.
Alvaro NOBOA:
Ecuadorians, I would like first of all to thank the national support that we have received, both Anabella, my candidate for Vice-President, and I, in this campaign. Believe me that I have felt as I did during the end of the second round of 1998 where I won the elections.
Businessman Alvaro Noboa will run for a fourth consecutive time for the Presidency. He denounces political persecution.
He says that his fourth run at the presidency is not a whim and that he is sure that he will make it to the second round along with the incumbent, Rafael Correa.
You have registered for the electoral race for the fourth time. On the other three occasions, you reached the second round, but this time the circumstances are different. You are facing someone who beat you two years ago.
Alvaro Noboa: Among some of the things that change with the years is that one can no longer sleep as much. Before, when I was a stripling and they said 5 in the morning, I could never come along to these programs because they were so early, but now that I wake up at 5.30 in the morning, I can be here with you.
A total of ten teams of running-mates entered the presidential race. But in the end, two seem possible heavy weight contenders for the opposition fighting Correa for the seat in Carandolet: Alvaro Noboa of the PRIAN and Lucio Gutiérrez, of the PSP, who returned to the electoral arena following a failed attempt to reach an accord.
Alvaro Noboa has not given up on his dream to become President. Yesterday he registered his candidacy, which will be his fourth attempt to reach Carondelet.
Alvaro Noboa: Well, I have asked you to invite me to your home several times and, until now, I've heard, yes, when I see you in Quito, I'll invite you. You've never invited and so I am still waiting for an invitation.
Good afternoon to all, my name is Enrique Diaz Tong, I am partner in the international firm, TP Consulting, specialists in the area of transfer prices. As has been explained, the assessment they wish to impose is for 300,000,000 (three hundred million dollars) dollars in regards to the subject of transfer prices. My opinion will be from the technical perspective regarding the transfer prices.
