Members of the press: I wish to tell you that it is with
sorrow and preocupation that i see the path upon which our
country has embarked and I empathize with my husband Álvaro
Noboa for his unjust expulsion from The National Constitutional
Assembly and for the political persecution of which he is
the victim in the way of fines, legal claims, and now with
this expulsion from The National Assembly.
It
should be clear to the whole country that Álvaro
Noboa will continue to work and struggle for freedom in
Ecuador, that he will not be diminished before those who
seek to silence his voice and that he will always be mindful
of what befalls his country.
Colleagues
what is happening is unfair, it is unfair that my husband
Álvaro Noboa has been expelled but, as he says,
if he had presented an asset declaration in a sworn deposition
they would have searched for an excuse to invent an offence
whereby they would persecute and jail him. Gentlemen of
the press, this was the reason Álvaro Noboa failed
to present an asset declaration in a sworn deposition.
We are not living under a state of law with constitutional
guarantees thank you members of the press.
Well, this is an assembly of envy; this is the assembly
of hate, the assembly of revenge of the struggle between
Ecuadorians with those feelings in the forefront of The
National Assembly anything can happen with a sworn statement
declaring all assets belonging to Álvaro Noboa.
We want to make an indelible impression in the memory
of the Ecuadorian people about what is occurring presently
and the fact there are no constitutional guarantees enabling
a politically besieged person to properly defend himself
THANKS
