PRESS RELEASE # 01

ALVARO NOBOA RESPONDS TO RAFAEL CORREA

Interior Minister Jose Serrano, during the Weekly address # 444 broadcast on October 3 this year, within the framework of drug operatives carried out by the National Police in the country, said: “We are among the four most distrustful countries in public security in Latin America, we must be the first country in coming years. Nearly 370 tons of drugs were seized between 2008 and 2014, 12 tons and 122 micro-trafficking gangs have been dismantled. This Ecuador is not the banana plantation of the father of a frustrated politician. The Ecuador of today has regained its dignity, its hope, its sovereignty, we demand respect for our national police.”

On these statements, the President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, spoke in harsh terms about the Ecuadorian businessman Alvaro Noboa, who in addition to disqualify his academic preparation, called him “the laughing stock of the world.”

“Some may did not understand why Minister José Serrano and in which context, said:`We demand respect for our police from the son of the owner of a banana plantation,´ he meant that Alvaro Noboa is nuts. He is publishing ads all over the world, you know that he has more greenbacks than the few neurons he owns, he has money to spend.
Just in case, Alvaro Noboa has been four times candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Ecuador’s richest man, I beat him in 2006 and also in 2009 and he is asking my resignation by saying that Ecuador is full of drug, giving this way a bad image to our police and the whole country, that is why Pepe (Jose Serrano) is outraged and demands more respect for our police. In any case, I ask you to continue publishing these ads in Spanish, English, French; you published one in a Belgian newspaper to hurt my in-laws who live in Belgium, to give them a bad image, but the French of those ads was so bad that he looks ridiculous and the text is so bad and the worst part of it is that he ends with “praise be to God” and all these things, he is the laughing stock worldwide and every time he publishes one of those texts our support abroad increases. So please Mr. Noboa, keep spending your money in these publications, you make us a favor, you are the laughing stock of the world,” Correa said.

In his right of reply, Alvaro Noboa, with documents that support his academic education, responded to the Head of State in several languages, denying the statements of Correa during his Weekly address.

“Rafael Correa, you just like me, studied at the Jose (La Salle) School and studied abroad. Here it is my report card of the elementary school, as you can see I have excellent grades and I did not lose a single point in any of the subjects throughout the school year, so I’m showing you on camera; Also here is a copy of my baccalaureate diploma, granted by the San Jose School, where you also studied. I graduated with 10 (Outstanding grade), you never were such a good student like me. Et si je parle français très très bien (And yes, I speak French very well). And I speak fluent English and I invite you to Speak in English with me and to make a debate in English with me whenever you like.”
