NEWSPAPER EXPRESO: Noboa attends summit convened by Carlos Slim

Mexico gathered the business elite of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Parientes and sons who have raised corporate empires in that geography met in that country from May 21, to discuss issues of interest including global, USA and Latin American economies, as well as the problems, challenges, proposals of the new civilization.

Alvaro Noboa attended the XII meeting ‘Entrepreneurs of Latin America, Parents and sons,’ representing Ecuador. The Ecuadorian has been invited 12 times. Other prominent businessmen also attended the event, such as: Gustavo Cisnero from Venezuela; Stanley Motta, from  Panama; Alejandro Bulgueroni from Argentina. All of them, owners of business giants in their nations.

The renowned Mexican tycoon, Carlos Slim Helú, owner of America Movil, hosted this annual event that brings together the creative heads of companies.

They also discussed topics such as genomics (science that studyies the origin and function of genomes), health, international and institutional presence of Latin American companies, strategic partnership of U.S. and Latin America, investment and employment opportunities.

The meeting is also known for bringing together not only companies leaders, but the second generation and even it is even attended by other family members such as nephews.

The entrepreneurs appointment comes at a time when a decline in the economic activity in the region is calculated.

According to a report by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), presented yesterday, the economic environment in 2014, with an estimated growth rate of 2.7%, “Is inauspicious for the evolution of the regional labor market and presents great challenges for labor market policies.”
