PRIAN List 7 candidate for President of the Republic,\u00a0 \u00c1lvaro Noboa, together with his running mate, Dr. Annabella Az\u00edn, toured the principal hospitals of the city of Guayaquil, to observe their state of need.<\/p>\n
In statements to the press, Noboa declared:\u00a0 \u201cMy wife, Dr. Annabella Az\u00edn, will be in charge of the area of healthcare in our government. Today we are conducting a tour of the most important hospitals in Guayaquil, beginning in the Roberto Gilbert Children\u2019s Hospital. Later we will go to the Social Security Hospital, \u201cTeodoro Maldonado Carbo\u201d and, finally, the suburban hospital, Abel Gilbert.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur policy in regards to healthcare is that hospitals should be specialized throughout the country. One hospital can dedicate itself to the area of heart care; another hospital can dedicate itself to the area of cancer; another hospital can dedicate itself to trauma care, etc.\u00a0 And for rural people, we believe that they need traveling medical brigades so that they can, in the case of an emergency, be attended to in their own farms and neighborhoods. This is our plan, but now we are going to talk to the directors of these hospitals, to exchange ideas and opinions and to see what their requirements are and the manner in which we can help them during our presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n
