Alvaro Noboa: “The suspicion of fraud is not only at the presidential level, but it is brutally greater in the world of parliamentarians.”

Alvaro Noboa, the leader of the Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelante party, referred to the alleged “electoral inconsistencies” found in the results released by the National Electoral Council at the Legislature level.

“The suspicion of fraud is not only at the presidential level, whose victim is Mr. Guillermo Lasso, and I am against what they are doing to Mr. Guillermo Lasso, but it is brutally greater that suspicion in the world of parliamentarians,” said the AEA leader.

One of the apparent inconsistencies to which Noboa referred, is the victory of the legislators of the Alianza PAIS party, who would have 48% of the votes, thus overcoming the presidential candidate of the same party Lenin Moreno, who so far has obtained 39,20% of votes. “It’s unbelievable! It’s a brutal inconsistency!” contended the AEA leader.

Noboa showed a publication of Daily Expreso, which shows a list of political parties, whose legislators despite having been well received, would have obtained between 0% and 2% of the vote at the electoral contest held on Sunday, February 19, 2017. AEA, Avanza, Sociedad Patriótica, Izquierda Democrática, Fuerza Ecuador, Centro Democratico, Movimiento Unión Ecuatoriana, Unidad Popular, Fuerza Compromiso Social and Citizen Concentration would be included among these.

He mentioned that he conducted an investigation and that in the case of the AEA party, “in all the provinces the results were the same.” “It has between 1% and 2% in all!” something he thinks is not normal. “The usual thing is that the voting percentage varies from one province to another.” The only provinces in which AEA does not reflect 1% or 2% are the Guayas District 4 (4%), Carchi (4%) and Orellana (3%).

“We have two million affiliates; we should have a 20% of votes. Our affiliates!” denounced the leader of Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelante party.

Alvaro Noboa said that the AEA candidates for provincial and national legislators would file a formal complaint with the CNE. He emphasized that they aspired to obtain between 20 and 30 legislators in the Assembly. They will also request that the polls be opened “each and every one to protect democracy.”

Noboa revealed that he and the members of his party will continue with their line of opposition and will not support the government. “We are going to stay in our opposition line. We will not vote for Continuism although I have the best opinion of Lenin Moreno ideologically there is a one-kilometer distance between what Lenin Moreno thinks and what I think. We will not vote for anything that represents the Continuism,” he concluded.
